Friends of the Library

Who are the Friends of the Library? What do they do?

The purpose of the Friends of the Morristown & Morris Township Library shall be to further public interest in and greater use of the Library and its facilities. This shall be done by raising funds for Library needs not included in the budget and by sponsoring special programs." [From the Friends' Constitution]

Friend's Outside Book SaleThe Friends are the library's hands-on volunteers. They get dusty hauling and sorting used books for the sales that bring the library more than $20,000 a year, provide a kind of book recycling service for the community, and offer shoppers inexpensive books for their personal libraries. The Friends plan lectures and other programs for the community,  publish the quarterly Library News, prepare and serve an annual luncheon for library staff and volunteers and they stand ready to help with special events, purchases, projects or emergencies.

Join the Friends

Anyone may join the Friends by paying the annual dues (15.00 dollars for an individual) that help support the Library.

And the 1st and 3rd Saturday of every month from January 5 - June 15

10 AM - 2 PM

The Friends of the Library’s used book sales have resumed in their newly restored bookroom on the ground floor of the original 1917 wing of the library.

Used book sales are a significant fundraiser for the Friends. They also provide an opportunity for individuals to find new homes for books and to build personal libraries at affordable prices. All proceeds support the Library.

Book Sale Location

All sales will take place in the library at 1 Miller Rd. Morristown, NJ. Click here for directions.

Book Donations

We are now accepting donations again.

True, it is sad to discard books. It is also sad for the Friends to waste money recycling  books we cannot sell.
