Assistive Technology iPads

Assistive Technology Program: iPad Basics

Tuesday April 3, 2018

A six week class for patrons 55 and older with a vision change. Have you heard about the iPad but are not sure what it is? Do you have an iPad but are not sure how to use it? In this beginner class you will receive an introduction to the iPad. In addition, you will be introduced to accessibility features on the iPad, such as Zoom and Voice Over (Apple’s built-in screen reader), to access the iPad. (Each class is 1.5 hours.)

This program is provided by The New Jersey Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired (CBVI) as part of the Library Equal Access Program (LEAP) for New Jersey residents 55 and older who have experienced a change in vision. The Commission supports FREE iPad and computer training classes through Advancing Opportunities, which will take place this September through December, at eight public libraries around the state, including the Morristown & Morris Township Library.

Please be aware that there is much interest in these classes, so the volume of calls and emails will be high. It may take several days for your message to be returned.  Due to limited seating for these classes, only registered participants will be able to attend.

Seven week class that covers basic computer skills like mouse skills, the internet and email. Registration is for the entire seven week series. This is a beginners class for those with little or no experience using computers.

In celebration of National Financial Literacy Month, Mayor Timothy Dougherty, Town Council President Toshiba Foster, Town Council Vice President Hiliari Davis of the town of Morristown, and NORWESCAP are presenting a workshop on "What You Should Know About Credit, Credit Reports and FICO Scores".
