“Stick it to Yourself!: Acupuncture, Its History and Its Benefits for You” featuring Morristown Acupuncturist Dana Holmes.

Acupuncture is a healing art with thousands of years of tradition behind it. In this workshop, we'll explore some of the philosophy behind acupuncture, talk about what to look for in a competent acupuncturist and learn some simple acupressure techniques that you can use to help yourself.

Dana Holmes was raised in Summit, NJ. She moved to Maryland while she completed her graduate degree at the Traditional Acupuncture Institute and then to Burlington, VT. In Vermont, she operated a clinic called the "Burlington Acupuncture Project." Living in Burlington was a blast, but her family was still in NJ so Dana decided to move back to her home state. Once she was here, she was shocked to find that NJ had no community acupuncture clinics. Dana's work was cut out for her. Bringing community style acupuncture to NJ became her goal. In Feb. of 2011, she opened North Jersey Community Acupuncture in Morristown. It continues to be one of only three community acupuncture centers in the state of NJ. Dana has also been a special education teacher and an advocate for the rights of people with disabilities.
