International Games Day @ the Library
Saturday November 15, 2014
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
The Morristown & Township Library will join hundreds of libraries throughout the world on November 15, 2014, for the seventh annual celebration of International Games Day @ The Library. The library will offer a wide selection of games and events suitable for the whole family.
The library’s upstairs gallery will be transformed into a family game center. There will be tables with jigsaw puzzles of varying difficulty levels set up all day for anyone to try their hand at as well as a large selection of board games and card games both familiar and new, including: Uno, Sorry, Trouble, Yahtzee, Chess, Checkers, Life and many more. Stop by anytime to play.
Crossword puzzle aficionados will have the opportunity to compete in our Crossword Puzzle Contest scheduled for 2 PM and if you would like to learn to play Backgammon there will be a Learn to Play Backgammon program at 10:30 AM.
A complementary gallery exhibit about the history of board games is also on view now. Entitled Pawn Stars, Fake Money and Chancy Die Rolls: The History of Classic Board Games, the exhibit traces the history of board games including games of strategy, children’s games, ‘home games’ of TV game shows, games involving money and even the appearance of popular culture in board games.
Playing games is a great way to socialize with friends, family and new acquaintances of all ages. It’s good for the mind, good for the heart and good for the soul. Please stop by the library on November 15 and join with thousands of people all over the world for International Games Day @ Your Library.
International Games Day @ Your Library is an international initiative supported by the American Library Association, the Australian Library and Information Association and Nordic Game Day.
