New Thomas Nast Acquisition

The library recently acquired an original Thomas Nast drawing entitled "The Old Old Story of Wall Street in the Usual Explosion". The drawing was donated by Alice Caulkins from her personal collection. We are very grateful for this wonderful new addition to our collection of original art by Thomas Nast.

A larger version of this drawing is available for viewing in our Digital Collections, where you can see many more original Nast materials that the library owns.

Another new treasure in our Thomas Nast Digital Collection is an original Nast note and sketch, discovered by its donors, when they were removing an unrelated print from an old picture frame. This small sketch, attached to cardboard, was used as the backing for the framed print. Otherwise its provenance is unknown. The note was possibly written to the The Copley Prints, published by Curtis and Cameron, producers of high quality reproduction art prints  at the turn of the 19th century.
