I think historical fiction gets a bad rap. People sometimes think it's dull or dry or boring. I don't think everyone is going to like every book, but here's a list of non-dull, non-dry, non-boring teen historical fiction. Maybe one of these will help the genres bad reputation.

Tales of the Madman Underground by John Barnes
A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray
(the beginning of a trilogy book two is Rebel Angels and book three is The Sweet Far Thing)
What I Saw and How I Lied by Judy Blundell
Book Thief by Marcus Zusak
Bright Young Things by Anna Godberson
     (first in a series)
Luxe by Anna Godberson
     (first in series)
A Brief History of Montmaray by Michelle Cooper
(and the sequel FitzOsbornes in Exile)
Between Shades of Gray by Ruta Sepetys
The Boy Who Dared by Susan Campbell Bartoletti
The Year We Were Famous by Carole Estby Dagg
Three Rivers Rising by James Richard
Crossing Stones by Helen Frost
The Runner by Cynthia Voigt
The Future of Us by Jay Asher and Carolyn Mackler
