Although the summer might be winding down, it's not too late to get in one last summer book. Labor Day seems like the perfect time to read this one. Although, it IS sad. You have been warned.
Morgan Matson wrote Amy and Roger's Epic Detour, which I loved. And now she's come out with this one, Second Chance Summer. It has a similar vibe, but that might only be because they both take place in the summer.
In Second Chance Summer, Taylor goes to a beach house for the summer with her family after her dad receives bad news. I think I'm just going to stop my summary right there. I really don't want to give too much away. It's enough to say that this book is sad, but so good. And such a worthy read.
If you liked Amy & Roger, then you should definitely give Second Chance Summer a shot. And if you haven't read Amy * Roger, read them both! You won't regret it.
And if you're reading this review in the middle of winter, pick these two books up because they'll leave feeling sunkissed and warm. (Except for the parts where you're sad.)
