Before you tell me I spelled the title wrong, let me inform you that it's a play on the main character's last name- Heidi Devine. See? I know how to spell! (In case you're confused, divine is actually spelled with an "i" not an "e.")
Jerome Hancock is in Heaven's soul-rehabilitation program for the souls of wayward teens. When he's assigned the soul of Heidi Devine to (sort of) be her guardian angel, she can hear him in her head. Singing and talking and spending time with her in her loneliest moments.
This book is funny, fascinating, and unique. It's a slightly different spin on the afterlife, like Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin and a tiny bit like Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver.
Definitely worth a try!
