Unlike the Pretty Little Liars book and television series, this Bunheads is unrelated to the ABC Family tv show. But that's no reason not to give it a chance. It's also, thankfully, nothing like Black Swan.
Hannah Ward is just trying to stand out among all the other ballet dancers in the Manhattan Ballet Company. Along with juggling friendships, performaces, and being away from her family for the past 5 years, she can't help but fall for Jacob when she meets him at her cousins restaurant. She wants to have a LIFE, rather than just living. Which is difficult given her chosen career.
I don't know much about being a ballerina, or ballet dance in general, but I think anyone who's interested in dancing might appreciate this novel. Although, who knows it might be one of those situations where if you're knowledgeable about dancing all you see is the flaws.
On the other hand, I also appreciated the fact that this YA novel featured a bit of an older teenager. Hannah is 19. I think it's worth a read, particularly for older teens.
