Passengers on the
are in for a shock.
Lilac La Roux is the daughter of the richest man in the galaxy and she acts like it.
Tarver Merendson is a young and decorated war hero who catches her eye.
I know this sounds incredibly corny, but I promise you it isn't. That's about the first four pages, after that you'll hate Lilac for a while, and you'll want to give Tarver a hug. And then! Then the Icarus, the luxury spaceliner the two are flying on, gets into major trouble, and inevitably, Lilac and Tarver are the only survivors. Which might seem like an eye roll worthy plot device, but somehow these authors make it work.
From there, the book changes from "Titanic in space" to a survival story as Lilac and Tarver try to make their way on an unknown planet with unknown dangers.
It is without a doubt a romance novel, but it's not just about the romance. I like the friendship that the two main characters build before it to turns to romance and I really like how resourceful they are. Definitely worth a read if you're looking for something different that will really make you think.
Highly recommended for anyone in high school and up.
