Haiku Review:
Harbinger Jones is
Many things. One of them is
Not brave. Until now.
Harbinger Robert Francis "Harry" Jones considers himself shy, ugly, and covered in hideous burn scars. He's not great at making friends, until a shockingly popular kid named Johnny McKenna changes his life forever.
Johnny likes Harry for who he is and doesn't even seem to notice Harry's scars. Eventually, the two start a rock band together and take the show on the road the summer after their senior year of college with their friends and bandmates Cheyenne and Richard.
The story is built around the premise of Harry writing his college application essay that gets long and out of control. But what really shines through is the humor and the way Harry perseveres. He's a fantastic character and I loved his voice right from the start.
Highly recommended for anyone in 9th grade and up, particuarly anyone interested in music.
