Isla and the Happily Ever After comes out on Thursday, but Stephanie Perkins's fans have been for it for YEARS. When I saw it on the shelf of Barnes & Nobel over the weekend I couldn't resist.
I'm a huge Stephanie Perkins fan. But initially when I picked up Anna and the French Kiss I didn't expect to like it. I don't think I even wanted to like it. I thought it was going to be just another YA romance. I was wrong. (Also my opinions about YA romances have changed over the years dramatically.)
Then I read Lola and the Boy Next Door. Cricket Bell might actually be one of my top five favorite boys from books, so obviously, I loved that one.
And now, the finally book in the trilogy has come out- Isla and the Happily Ever After.
I read it SO FAST. I would go so far as to say I devoured it. it's been a long time since I felt this way about a couple. I couldn't stop reading. I needed to see what would happen next to Isla and Josh. I thought the first two books were great, but this third one was beyond great.
Isla is shy and Josh is reserved, but they're always in each other's orbits since they go to the same, very small school, and have a lot of classes in common. Now that they're seniors and both of them are single, there's nothing to keep them apart. Because the chemistry is there, they just need to give into it.
Highly, HIGHLY recommended for anyone in high school. Particularly anyone who's ever dreamed about going to boarding school in Paris.
