Are you interested in learning about the Chinese art of Tai Chi? Join us for weekly instruction by Master Gang Huang, who specializes in helping novices learn this fascinating martial art form. Proficient in many styles of Tai Chi, including Chen and Yang, Master Huang enjoys teaching people about the many health and wellness benefits of Tai Chi and will lead us in learning the basic aspects of traditional practice. Jordan), who wants to sell the country's natural resources to fund an uprising.

Friends of Foote's Pond Wood Gallery Reception
The Friends of Foote's Pond Wood Gallery Exhibit is a joint effort of The Friends of Foote's Pond Wood and the North Jersey History and Genealogy Center of the Morristown & Morris Township Library. This show will cover the history, ecology, recreational activities and wildlife of Foote's Pond Wood, located in Morristown on James Street. There will be beautiful photographs, maps, artwork and more illustrating these topics as well as informative captions and articles. A reception for the event will be held on the evening of June 27 in the F.M. Kirby Gallery. We hope you can attend and meet the creative folks who put this exhibit together!

LIVING WITH PRIDE: Pride Month Film Series: BPM (Beats Per Minutes)/(120 Battements Par Minute)
The Library is pleased to announce our 2nd Annual “Pride Month Film Series” for 2018. Airing Thursday nights this June at 7pm, and centered on the theme “Living with PRIDE,” these four films from the U.S. and overseas celebrate the spectrum and diversity of the LGBTQ+ experience.

Our final movie in the series, on Thursday, June 28, will be BPM (Beats Per Minute), a “sprawling, thrilling, finally heart-bursting group portrait of Parisian AIDS activists in the early 1990s.” (Variety) Winner of 38 awards, including the prestigious Palme d’Or at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, this film has been described as a “film about love. A film about life. Life stronger than death. A film as a glimpse of hope.” (France, 2017, 2:23, Not Rated)

Subtitled in English. Light refreshments will be served.

Please welcome our new book and media drop! Thanks to our hard-working and generous Friends of the Library, we have a new book and media drop for our patrons to use when returning books, DVDs, audio books, music CDs and other materials. Of course we always welcome those who would like to stop in and return things in person too! Come and check it out!

Adult Summer Reading Club: Libraries Rock!
Not that it's news to you, but Libraries Rock! Which is the perfect theme for this year's Summer Reading Club. Why should kids have all the fun? Sign up for the library's Adult Summer Reading Club and you’ll get a gift just for joining! The only requirement is to read or listen to books of any kind - that’s it! Sign up begins on Monday, July 2 at the Circulation or Reader's Advisor desks. Fill out a slip for every book you read or listen to and you will be entered into our weekly prize drawing. Enter to win lots of great prizes all summer long. Club runs until August 31.

Back by popular demand for a 14th year! Join us July 13th & 20th for two Friday nights of “Jazz in July”.

Tickets for both events are $20 at the door each night and all proceeds benefit the Library. No advance ticket sales available. Refreshments will be served. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Morristown and Morris Township Library.

U.S. Citizenship Exam Classes

U.S. Citizenship Exam Classes
Free classes for the the U.S. Citizenship Exam will be taught by JVS (Jewish Vocational Services) at the Library this summer from July 10-September 13 at 6:30 pm in the Technology Lab. Prepare for the Citizenship exam by learning about the N400 form, American Civics and American History. Space is limited and you must register. A Green Card is necessary to register. The Henry W. Pilch Collection, ca.1724-1986
The North Jersey History and Genealogy Center is pleased to announce that it has opened the Henry W. Pilch Collection to researchers. The papers contain extensive documentation of land usage within the state from the early 18th through the 20th centuries that Pilch collected in the course of his law practice. In addition to tracing property ownership throughout Morris County and Northern New Jersey, the records follow the family histories of numerous prominent and longtime residents.  Read more...
