Tackling NJ Fossil Fuel Pollution
Democrats and Republicans, economists and environmentalists, CEOs and countries around the world have all agreed on the need to put a price on carbon and air pollution to combat climate change. Jonathan Lu of Princeton Student Climate Initiative, will present a simple, effective, and bipartisan carbon pricing proposal for NJ called Carbon Fee & Dividend. The product of nearly 30 authors from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public Affairs and the many science departments at Princeton University and elsewhere, this study also includes input from NJ state legislators, environmentalists, and labor and business groups from across NJ.  Read more...

Library Photo Contest

Library Photo Contest
The North Jersey History and Genealogy Center invites interested persons to enter our second photograph contest. This is an exciting way to celebrate our local history through the art of photography.

The photographs should be taken between September 1st, 2016 and May 1st, 2017 by amateur photographers of Morristown and Morris Township. An amateur photographer is defined as a person who receives less than 50% of their annual income through photography. Contestants may submit up to five 8x11 prints.  Photos should feature a landmark, landscape, historic building, architectural feature, or other subject that reflects Morristown and/or Morris Township and should be submitted by May 8, 2017.  An award will be given for the best Morristown photograph and another for the best Morris Township photograph. For further details, please contact the History Center at njhgc@jfpl.org or (973) 538-3473.

Model Release: Photographs that contain recognizable people must be accompanied by a model release form signed by each person photographed. If any photographed individuals are under the age of 18 years, the youth’s parent or legal guardian must also sign the photo release

Please include the date the photograph was taken, your name, contact information and the location of the photograph. 

Awards will be given to the photographers of the best Morristown and best Morris Township photographs at an awards program on Thursday, June 8th at 7 PM in the meeting room in the library’s lower level. 

\All submissions automatically agree to allow the library to use the images in library publications, social media or in future exhibits. Photographers will be cited whenever and wherever we post the photographs.

Last year's contest challenged anyone with a passion for photography to capture images of Morristown and Morris Township and share them with the library. In response, we received many excellent submissions portraying numerous places of interest in our community.
