Erie Railroad

The Morristown & Erie Railroad

Wednesday January 20, 2016
7:00 PM
As presented by local railroad historian Rudy Garbely, the Morristown & Erie is a local 120 year old New Jersey short line railroad with a long history and a unique charm. Garbely’s presentation explores the railroad's beginnings in the 1890s, its successes throughout the 20th century, and its continued operations today.

From its humble beginnings shuttling goods between Whippany's mills and Morristown's markets through its bustling World War II activities and its major 1980s expansion projects, the Morristown & Erie still remain's Morristown's friendly local railroad.

Rudy Garbely by train engineGarbely holds a degree in American history from Moravian College in Bethlehem, PA. He is employed by the modern-day Morristown & Erie Railway, and handles the railroad's marketing, public relations, customer service, and logistics management. Garbely is also an accomplished author and publisher, and owns The Garbely Publishing Company, which focuses on professional railroad history books written by Garbely and other authors. He has published three books on the history of the Morristown & Erie, all of which will be made available for purchase at the presentation.
