Join us for a discussion by Ken Womack of the first multi-volume biography of George Martin. A detailed account of Martin’s work with The Fab Four as they advance beyond the success of their earlier recordings, Sound Pictures takes readers behind the scenes with stories of Martin’s interactions with the band, including when John Lennon, who hated the sound of his own voice, requested that Martin tweak his vocals: “Make me sound like the Dalai Lama chanting from a mountaintop.” Martin’s experimentation led to the creation of such classics as Revolver, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and Abbey Road but mounting pressures and challenges threatened their achievements.  Read more...

We love to color! Thousands of adults are picking up their pencils, pens and markers every day in pursuit of relaxation, stress relief and creative fulfillment. Join us on the first Monday of the month at 7pm for a group coloring session with coloring sheets and colored pencils provided by the library. Attendees are also encouraged to bring their own projects and coloring tools. Refreshments will be served and friendly chatting will happen!. We have a monthly door prize drawing of a coloring book! We are now partnering with Color A Smile to collect drawings for their charity at our meetings. Hope to see you at the next meeting of our Coloring Book Club. Relaxation & fun guaranteed!

Then join Macculloch Hall’s F.M Kirby Curator of Collections, Ryan Hyman, and the North Jersey History and Genealogy Center’s, James Lewis, to walk past Nast’s home, Villa Fontana, and on to Macculloch Hall where Ryan will give a tour of Bringing Down the Boss: Thomas Nast Takes on Tweed and Tammany Hall and Macculloch Hall’s latest Nast Christmas exhibit. The library is pleased to announce the eighth and final movie in our 2nd Annual “Foreign Cinema Series,” featuring eight entertaining and thought-provoking foreign films from Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. Tonight's feature: Our Little Sister, by acclaimed Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda. Released in 2015, the story revolves around three sisters who live together in the city of Kamakura, Japan. When their father - absent from the family home for the last 15 years - dies, they meet their shy, teenage half-sister. Join us for chess on the third Thursday of every month. The group will meet from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. upstairs in the F.M. Kirby Gallery. We will enjoy friendly, non-competitive, short games of chess between players of all skill levels. Basic knowledge of the game's rules is required. Improve your game, make new friends and enjoy playing chess! Players of all ages are welcome to play as long as they know the rules. Please bring your own chess board, pieces, and time clock. Games will be between 20-30 minutes as agreed upon between players.
