Review: Dr. Bird's Advice for Sad Poets by Evan Roskos

Review Haiku:
Life's not always great
when you have a brute and a
banshee for parents.

James Whitman is just trying to get through high school. It's not easy though. His sister Jorie got expelled from school and then his parents kicked her out of the house.

He's left feeling anxious all the time, and his anxieties are only growing. When James runs into Jorie at a party, he wants to try to get down to the bottom of what happened. Why did she really get expelled? Why are his parents such terrible people?

At times his anxieties get to be too much, and then he likes to talk to his imaginary friend/bird therapist, Dr. Bird. It's only with time that James begins to realize he might need more help than Dr. Bird is able to give him.

This is a quiet read, don't pick it up if you're looking for action and adventure. But if you're looking something thought provoking and an interesting look at a unique character that will make you laugh, then this might be a great choice for you.
